Explaining Second 61 in a 100 words:

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to freeze time - and then be able to act when no one else can? The idea behind the fiction tale of Second 61 is that some people do just this. They are able to use the 61st second of each minute.

These moments can not be measured in seconds, since time is not moving, but experts can extend that 61st second for as long as they want. Moving and talking decreases the length of that Second 61.

This website is dedicated to fictional Short-Stories about the 61st second.

And now for the longer version:

Every now and then we experience situations where time seems to stand still, where we are able to see everything frozen in front of us but we can still think. In the next moment everything is back to normal and we think "hey, that was just in my imagination".

What if it was not?

What if we could somehow control those moments inbetween minutes or seconds of our lives? Somehow create extra time? It opens up a whole range of new possibilites - as well as problems. Some people would consider it kind of a super power or magic, others would think it a curse.

The world of the 61st second, ususally known as Second 61 or really short when in writing - S61, is an exciting one. There is no way to count how many people have access to it. But let's be sure that there are at least thousands of them (us?) out there in the world right now.

What is it like to have this power? The biggest problem for many people having the ability to visit S61 is that the can not share it with anyone else. For some reason it is not very common to have multiple gifted people within a family. This means that a lot of the S61:ers (we gotta find a better name for them) feel lonely and lead a life of travelling and searching. If you find it difficult to find the meaning of life - imagine having a unique gift and not knowing why.

This is a platform to publish stories around the concept of Second 61. It was created by Swedish author Sölve Dahlgren who first planned to write a book or several books using characters that had this gift. For some reason he found it a bit boring to keep it to himself so he thought "why not invite other writers to share this concept, to exchange ideas and inspire each other to create thousands of stories".
